Kristina (Restorative Yoga Fundamentals 2025 participant)
“As good as expected. And I had high expectations :)”
A training intensive
The intention of this training is to gain the key skills for developing your own Restorative Yoga practice and for learning how to share this practice with others.
The course is taught by senior teacher Dr Kristen MacPherson. Kristen trained directly by Judith Hanson Lasater, the teacher who is widely credited with bringing Restorative Yoga to prominence. This training has been approved by Judith Hanson Lasater, those successfully completing this program are eligible to attend her Level 2 Restorative Yoga intensive.
The training includes a yoga project, which will be completed after the course, and returned for feedback before a completion certificate is awarded. If already registered with Yoga Alliance, successful completion of this course will allow you to apply for Continuing Education credits.
Learning outcomes
In this course, you will learn:
To have experience of setting up Restorative Yoga poses for yourself and others, how to safely provide modifications and adjustments.
To be able to apply understanding of anatomy in a practical way that helps you to support yourself and your students.
An introduction to the physiology of relaxation and how to create conditions for calm.
How to effectively use props to support the body comfortably.
How to weave mindfulness into your Restorative Yoga practice, to savour the effect of the practice on your nervous system.
How to sequence a Restorative Yoga practice, working with groups and 1:1.
Learn, practice, integrate, teach.
The approach for this training is to start with gaining knowledge and learning about aspects of the Restorative Yoga practice. That learning gets reinforced by practicing and repeating the practice. The integration comes with time, when we really get to know the principles of the practice and we integrate the learning in our daily lives. Only then can we teach.
